Our Caregiver Outreach Program - This program is
for caregivers who are caring for loved ones that have Alzheimer's or
any other memory related disorder. A caregiver needs help and support
while caring for a loved one. They often feel isolated and alone. They
become exhausted and need a caring individual to listen to them. Our
Outreach coordinator has a heart as big as the world and she will help
you find respite and gain that inner strength that you need to work
with your loved one. <more>
Restorative
Therapy Program - Not only has Medicare has reduced the time for
physical and occupational therapist, from six weeks to three weeks,
but the service will only be available for three times a year for
anyone in Day Care or Home Care. With Alzheimer's patients, as the
disease advances there is a progressive physical decline. The dementia
client is often in need of either physical or occupational therapy and
have limited opportunities because of the restriction placed on them
with our present health system. Professional therapists work to
correct or improve the client's deficiency. The problem exacerbates
when they can no longer provide the physical therapy needed after the
three week restriction. If the required therapy isn't received, then
the client will often begin to decline again. Our CNA's are trained as
restorative aides to maintain the required therapy on each patient.
This serves two purposes; first, it improves the quality of their life
and secondly, it improves the overall physical and mental health of
the patient. Hopefully it will reduce the need for re-hospitalization,
the costs associated with caring for them and the stress on the
caregiver. <more>
Multi-Therapeutic Intervention Program -
Over 10 years of research, starting with the initial study developed
by Dr. Monique C. Grelot, PhD, set the
foundation for our program. Camile Hunter, LSMW advanced the program
with her study on the “Exploration
Research for Alzheimer’s disease Victims and/or related
Dementias and their Caregivers.” Sandy
Rutherford further developed the program and finalized the
Multi-Therapeutic Intervention program using a multi-sensory
stimulation curriculum. Our Multi-Therapeutic Intervention Program
(MTI), for the care recipient, has given us the ability to extend and
hold ones functional capability, with most of our clients, thus
improving their quality of life over a longer period. We are now
trying to design therapies that will befit all clients. <more>
